“You’re right, Susan. I’m sorry.” Entertained by their fidgety glares, Roar pondered the blond titan with the ill-concealed mountainous physique and crystalline blue eyes. “Sure, yes, I’d say he’s attractive.”

Smug, Susan cut the chicken breast on her plate. “Now find one more so Zaida can get married, too.”

The girl threw her head back and laughed richly.

Susan Fleming had lived alone in the same unit for ten years since her husband’s passing and was known to the neighbors as the ‘Pie Lady’. The girl, Zaida Flegenheimer, had moved downstairs with her parents three years ago when she began high school as a rampant teen who quickly became the sister Susan never had.

Susan took a bite. “But is he single?”

Zaida clicked her tongue with undisguised dismay. “Five bucks says Roar didn’t ask.”

“Call the station.” Chewing, Susan nodded to Roar. “One of those nimrods oughta know somethin’.”
