My Word-of-the-Day Challenge

Directions: Use the Word of the Day from Merriam-Webster.com from the month of August in a scene; each day’s post must be a continuation of the previous day’s post.

Word count limit: 150 words


August 4, 2021, Merriam-Webster Word of the Day: flexuous (adj.)

Definition:

1 : having curves, turns, or windings

2 : lithe or fluid in action or movement


So this is the Lachlan Region’s one and only Class 3 Jubar.

Bjorn wasn’t as impressed as he had expected to be. He’d built a career around monitoring Jubars, usually Class 1 and 2’s; he’d never seen a Class 3 in person before.

He’s a typical Gen Z. Bjorn resisted clicking his tongue. I don’t know why Grigol was so worked up. “Glassman relocated,” he said. “New gig.”

Roar nodded to himself and in the next breath apologized to the bag in his arm.

Bjorn’s mouth twitched. “What’s in the bag?”

Roar’s dark blue eyes flicked up, guarded.

That came out too strong. “Sorry, er…” Bjorn backed off. He seemed so cocky before. “I-I was curious.”

Unrolling the top of the bag, Roar tipped it to reveal a small plant nestled neatly in downy insulting paper. It had a few pairs of oval leaves and a single fluxuous vine.
