In the Absence of Words

I hate that I find myself repeatedly apologizing for my lack of blogging. Though I am quite sorry.

Since graduating, my schedule has sadly been conducive neither to the immersion of self in nerd-tastic books nor to the eager pursuit of self-publication. Aside from work I find my time largely consumed with family happenings and catching up on sleep.

I am pleased to report, however, that I have not stopped writing fiction in my old habits (for my own entertainment; in the margins of notebooks, on scrap paper and sticky notes), but it’s nothing that can be shared as is. Again, I’m sorry.

Alas, this is the state of me.

A Dash of Creative Stuff 

I managed to scribble a bird-thing in my sketchbook about 10 minutes ago (it’s been a long while since I’ve sketched; and it didn’t require thinking… I’ve missed this).

Since I have no inventive tale for you at the moment—here, have this drawing of a weird bird.

    Stay encouraged, Duri. A writer writes… no matter how much blank space occurs in between the words. Take care of yourself and family matters first. I’m sure the other priorities will comfortably fit into your schedule in time. Take care.

    I love your bird.
    I am currently following two people who blog several times a day. One is trying to sell me stuff and the other just seems to have too much time on her hands. I delete them all (almost all – it has taught me the value of a good headline). I’d rather follow an occasional blogger I know will be worth reading, although I know blogging intermittently goes against the advice of blogging gurus – one of whom I am about to delete from my list as soon as I find the time.

      Thank you, Cathy! I know it’s an odd bird but there was no plan when I started sketching and that was the literal no-brainer result.

      And I agree about bloggers who publish posts at the speed of spam. I’d be amazed (and somewhat dumbfound) if anyone actually found the time to read all of those.

      I just finished revisiting your blog. I don’t know how I missed your bio before — and, so you know, you won me over at “After a career in libraries.” I’m always stoked to meet and learn from the pros. I look forward to more of your fiction samples and writing advice!

      Thanks. Yeah, I know we do, but failing to deliver on promises (even those little, non-life-and-death ones like keeping a post schedule) is one of those things that irks me to no end, even if there’s a legitimate reason. I realize it’s irrational…

      And now to work on getting back on track! One blog post at a time!

        Oh yeah. If I didn’t know better I would think I invented procrastination. 😀 I even wrote a post about how I kinda failed at blogging after I abandoned my blog for about four months, LOL. We’re all human, just stick with it.
