The End of A Story Void

I’ve been gone from WordPress since February but, wow, it feels like it’s been years. Shortly after 2018 began, despite the mayhem ensuing throughout this bizarre and demanding world, I realized I needed to be more proactive about my own life.

Update

Thankfully my situation is improved. I’m happy to report I’ve broken free from the clutches of a suffocating bout of  ‘survival mode’ which, over the past 7 months, had quelled my desire to write any fiction whatsoever.

(While ‘survival mode’ is handy for survival, it lends nothing toward encouraging creativity. In one of my work places there’s a handwritten note in an administrative employee training manual that says: “You cannot motivate anyone who’s in survival mode.” That little note helped me sort a few things out. I’m grateful.)

Back to the Notebook

A week ago, I opened my writing/idea notebook for the first time in months. (I’ve missed it so much!) In my head, the neglected notebook reacted to my return like an old friend who would probably knock my block off for being gone so long if she wasn’t so glad to see me.

Immediate Rereading List

  • Principles of Helicopter Flight, 2nd ed. by W.J. Wagtendonk

I am employed in a healthcare setting, afraid of flying, and someone to whom math subjects don’t come easily — so why this book?

Well, I consider a book detailing the physics behind rotary wing aircraft to be far more relaxing (and more enjoyable) than the potential alternative. I would much rather be able to (at least for a little while) listen to the respectful conveyance of a logical sequence of ideas based solely on science and research, than subject myself to yet another headache-inducing episode of the melodramatics and dishonesty surrounding a certain condescending figurehead.

What About My Fiction?

It’s a surprise. (I’ve decided to create some fun stuff for my immediate family but I can’t tell you about it here because if I do THEY’LL KNOW. They get no spoilers!!)

I hope you are all doing well. Have a great day!

Hi! Sorry I didn’t see this sooner, my notifications haven’t been working well. Yes, more on the instrument when I’ve actually learned a song, lol! I’m waiting til I can play something to share it with everyone. And I’m crocheting two projects for Christmas, so I had to start those early enough. I’ve missed your posts and I’m glad you’re back!
