“It sounds like you made a good impression.” Dufort dropped the file onto his desk, oblivious to Bjorn’s balk, and straightened his jacket. “Many Special Community Officers take this job erroneously believing that Jubar’s with higher classifications are wild animals to be feared, subdued, and controlled—no, no. They belong to the community that we’ve sworn to serve and if you don’t accept that, they’ll know.”

Bjorn considered the detective. I get why Grigol doesn’t like him.

“Okay!” Dufort clapped. “I need to stop talking and go home! Good night!”

Detective Dufort seems fair, thought Bjorn once alone, but Grigol said he doesn’t have much experience dealing directly with Jubars. That fairness might be ignorance….

He stared at the pages in front of him.

I know it’s stupid to blindly base anything solely on Grigol’s undulant recommendations—he’s clearly got a chip on his shoulder—but I won’t be caught off guard either.
